Paragliding

Paragliding is available above Lake Bohinj for the Farmhouse and at Bovec for guests staying at the Retreat, both places offering mind-blowing views and of course the ability to fly, if temporarily. Pac-sports, Life Trek and most of the other sports companies offer tandem flights from several locations with Pac coming out our favourite because of their five day training course teaching you everything you need to know to paraglide solo for the very reasonable sum of about €450. If you're doing more than one activity during your stay, it's a good idea not to make paragliding your grand finale on the last day because if the wind is too strong, you won't be able to reschedule.

Scenic Flights

If you prefer your flying a little more seated and a little less dangly there are small planes offering scenic flights from Lesce, the village next to Bled. These are a fantastic opportunity to get right up above the mountains and look east across the Alps or south towards the Karst and the Dolomites beyond. The prices are excellent value and signs on the way into or out of Bled will make sure you know where you're going.

Or why not even get some flying training here in Slovenia?  Lesce Airfield has an established flying school with very experienced instructors and using a Cessna 172P with a modern diesel engine.  The airspace here is very uncluttered and the scenery just amazing.
